Jupiter’s Flytrap is a four-piece indie rock band based in Central Arkansas. The group was formed in 2021 by lead singer, songwriter, and bassist Indi Minett. Indi and Ian Collins, the group’s composer and multi-instrumentalist were joined by their current drummer and songwriter Caden Malott in 2022 and keyboardist Dylan Betnar in 2023. They have played among the likes of some of Arkansas’s favorite musical acts, including Tiny Towns, Katsu, Frailstate, Salon Blonde, and many more. The band plays predominantly indie rock, taking inspiration from 2000’s indie legends MGMT and Tame Impala as well as contemporary genre-benders like Hiatus Kaiyote and King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard. With their shared backgrounds in jazz and classical, the group continues to push the boundaries of songwriting in this genre through the frequent incorporation of catchy synth melodies, captivating saxophone solos, and outside-of-the-box lyrics.

The group has released three singles leading up to the release of their debut album, which is set to hit streaming services in 2024. Their first ever release was a heart-wrenching nostalgic slow jam titled “Honey Honey,” a love song written by lead singer Indi Minett about her fellow musician Ian Collins before the band was formed. The song came out June 21st, 2023. In a review of the song following it’s release, the Arkansas Times had this to say about the track:

“…dreamy vocals hang in the air like a friendly ghost in search of a real connection”

A dramatic contrast from their first single, their second release titled “I Need A Vacation” shows off the band’s impressive range, featuring a wacky synth hook, quick punchy vocals, and cartoonish sound effects. The song came out on Halloween 2023, capturing the shared desire for a well-needed break many of us feel during such a busy time of the year.

Their third single titled “D.B.A.S.” will be available on all streaming services February 29th, 2024. This tune showcases a wide array of sounds, from sprawling piano arpeggios to booming synth bass hits to an unexpectedly abstract saxophone solo!
